On the left bank of the Dniester River, in the village of Pohrebea, lies a place that feels like it was pulled out of a storybook: Two Doves House, known locally as Pensiunea Doi Hulubași. It is more than just a traditional Moldovan guesthouse — it is a haven of peace, authenticity, and the unmistakable feeling of home.
Everything began in August 2019, after the first edition of the Hodina Festival organized by the Klumea team on the banks of the Dniester. That’s when Nata Albot fell hopelessly in love with this place. During a walk through the narrow lanes of Pohrebea, she noticed an old house, more than 100 years old. Fragile, but full of soul.
On October 26, 2019, on her birthday, Nata became the proud owner of that house — the moment that marked the beginning of an extraordinary adventure: transforming an old village home into a riverside guesthouse.
From Dream to Reality
The initial plan was simple: restoring an old house for family getaways. But the dream grew, expanded, and took on a life of its own. With the help of architect Andrei Vatamaniuc from Atelierul Miez, the project evolved into a place that beautifully connects tradition and modernity, past and present, roots and aspirations. Why “Two Doves”? The symbol of two doves was carved into the doors of the original house — a motif often found in Pohrebea’s old homes. Doves represent peace, love, and the spirit of home. Thus, the name was born: a metaphor for harmony between people, nature, and place.
Two Houses, One Soul
Two Doves House is made up of two buildings: the old house and the new house.
- The old house, built of stone and clay more than a century ago, has been carefully restored to preserve its authentic essence. It includes two bedrooms: one with a double bed, and another with a traditional lejancă (a heated sleeping platform) and a wood-burning stove — a true step back in time.
- The new house is modern and filled with light. It has two floors, a fully equipped kitchen facing the river, a SPA area with a sauna, and a living room with panoramic windows overlooking the Dniester.
- It’s the perfect place for a nature escape — a journey into simplicity and calm, where every detail reconnects you with the essence of authentic Moldova.
A Panoramic Space That Unites Everything The two houses are connected by a panoramic dining room — a shared space where nature becomes part of the interior. Mornings begin with soft light streaming through the windows, and evenings end with golden sunsets over the water.
